I'm getting closer. Thing is, I'm not sure exactly what I'm getting closer to....
Completion of a most dreaded task?

Or succumbing to the agony of actually doing said task.

Well on my way to an even deeper level of this point....
Somehow, this software way of doing this gets a little harder with each year. Probably because the blasted "powers that be" keep changing things, adding stuff and taking stuff out, etc., so forth, ad nauseum.
Blech.
Add in one of those pesky ten - nintey - nine forms and it exponentially increases the difficulty of filing yourself.
And I really like having software, don't get me wrong. It's TONS better than trying to do it all on your own....BUT.....it can get a bit ridiculous. So hard to keep up with what the daggone program is doing..."Where did that number come from?" --- "Why did it send me to this form?" ----- "Didn't I already answer that question?" --- "How come it's printing a blasted BOOK!?!?!" and so on.
Gah.
Anyhow, I finally got one really annoying part done...after crawling around in the attic to find the papers from several years ago. Now it's a matter of feeling confident enough to click that "file" button.
For those of you who don't know, I absolutely loathe the Eye-R-Ess. I never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever want to have to go through the nightmare of dealing with those imbecils ever again!!!!!!
*ahem*

I'm going around the block to have mine done this year. I did them online last year, the eye peeps have links where you can get your fed. done for free. But this year, I don't know about the farm stuff. so I'm going in. I hate paying as much as they charge, but direct deposit is way cool! (not the rapid way, we did that once, but they charge out the wazoo!) (did I just say that?!?!?!)
Maybe you should go to the stapler place and get an easy button!

Well, the last time we paid someone to do ours, someone at a national/franchised/whatever t@x service, I was in the hospital trying not to die of a drug reaction...but I looked 'em over -- #1 - they charged us over $100 (that's back in '94, uhkay?) for a simple ten-forty with nothing extra but a ScH-A...but they'd filed some extra form (i forget which) that stated PLAINLY we didn't need to file (it was like "under X-amount of dollars, do not file")
Anyhow, it ticked me off, so we started doing them ourselves (read: I started doing them!)
Thankfully, software came along that helped tremendously....sometimes. It's a little irksome when all the info is NOT pertaining to your situation and you can't find answers to your ?'s...even from the Eye-R-Ess site! GAH!
We may break down and start having them done, too...I just don't trust anyone else to do it. Urgh.

I hate, loathe, abhor tax software. We tried to file online but they wouldn't just let me fill in the blanks myself. They wanted to ask all these stupid questions and in the end they wanted to charge us an arm and a leg. Ha! I don't think so. Give me a pencil and paper and I'll do them myself. SO there!
Hope you get yours done soon and that Uncle Sam sends you some moola!

I always print it all out so I can SEEEEE what's going on. Yeah, it takes half a ream of paper, but I can't stand not knowing before I do anything final, kwim?!?!?!?

I hate to mention this...but we've done the software thing for the last several years and LOVE it. Maybe because it's just one income, everything stays the same...don't know. DH gets it done by the end of Jan. and direct deposit is in hand by the beginning of Feb. SORRY!!!!

Hubby just heard that they may make it so that the water co. will have to give the employees ten-90-nines for value of UNIFORMS and WORKTRUCKS!!!!
Is that not INSANE?!?! As if they might go toolin' around town in a tooltruck complete with a big ol' permanent sign on each door, tools of the trade promanently displayed in the bed and a snazzy yellow strobe light on top whilst wearing their coolio standard blue work pants and pinstriped shirts with those awesome company-logo patches....ooooh-aaaaah.
