'nother doc...
Monday, I spent most of the day with Mom running around looking for stuff for the wedding. We needed some fabrics and such.
I had a really bad headache, but one that would change from minute to minute almost. Like it'd go from a 9 to a 3 without warning then back again in a matter of mere minutes, literally!
There's no rhyme or reason or pattern to these things. The only constants are that cigarette smoke will cause them every time, as will bending over or other strong chemical smells and loud noises.
*sigh*
So when we got home Monday, I was completely wiped out. Mom had found an ad in the paper about a new chiropractor that mentioned migraines. Up until now, any chiros here only dealt with the spine. Nothing in the arms or legs, and not much with the neck even, just the spine.
But this guy uses some different method of chiropractic, according to the ad/article. Anyhow, Mom called and got me an appointment for yesterday.
I was there for an hour just doing history! He asked me every question in the world!
I always like when a doctor is that thorough. He had never heard of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, though, so I told him to read up on it. It was some nasty, fascinating reading. Sheesh. I mean, I couldn't even explain it to him, ya know?
When I explained to him about my neck and shoulders, about how the stiffness had started well before last November when Dr. M gave me those two painful, yet useless shots and told me I'd sleep all night and be all better, yadda, yadda... (I slept 2 hours, and was NOT all better) he walked aroud the desk to me and felt of my neck and that huge knot between my shoulders and declared, "I've felt rocks softer than that! No wonder you're feeling so awful."
Hmm.
So anyhow, all we had time for was that history, so I am going back today for probably x-rays and maybe a treatment. Oh, Lord, I hope he can give me some relief.
Please pray that he can AND that I can pay for it. (they don't accept M#dic@rE assignments) Poo.
~gentle hugs~

Thanks, ladies. I hope he can do something too. I'm hopeful.
He sure seems to want to help and has different methods of chiropractic than any other chiro I've ever seen.
We shall see....

my sil in oh does cranio-sacral (spelling) massage. Not exactly chiro, but she works on your neck and spine. Mel has had bad headches before and she's had these, and her h/a go away. don't know if that's what your talking about, but it is a seperate certification than chiro.
so...um...yeah...hope it works for you!

I went to a chiropractor once for neck pains - one of those cheapo introductory offer deals. As it turned out, i was able to take care of my pain without the chiroprator, but everything he explained to me about this "alternative medicine" made a lot of sense.
I think it's a good idea for you to give it a try, and sounds like you found a good one. Sure hope it helps!

Is he a NUCCA chiro? He puts the pressure up around your ear to bring your spine back into alignment? I go to one like him here, G. As does hubby. I think you will like the treatment...so gentle, you can't believe that's all there is to it, but it works! Hang in there and give him a try.

Nope. This is a different type, Claire. They work on whole body, but use mostly vertibrae C1 & C2 to determine what are of body is in need of treatment...or vise versa. *shrugs* ??? Guess I'm not really sure!
But he used this magic hammer tool on me. LOL! Didn't feel like a hammer, but kinda sounded like a teensy nail gun. Like for toddlers to play with.
Hm. That makes a nice wacko ad image, don't it?
Buy your youngun's 'is life-like nail gun, folks! See? Shoots out 16-nails jes' lack Paw's 'cept wif out thu horspitul bill. Even makes 'at hy-drawlicks *SHUUSH*-in' mawiz jes' lack rich Cousin Marcel's plug-up nail gun.

chiropractors have always scared me, but about 7 years ago I was having chronic BAD tension headaches and other symptoms too...and i went to a chiropractor and he really did help me.

Dia, I've gone to "regular" chiro lots of times for lower back pain. It helped, but only minimally and not for very long. ???? I didn't know there was any other kind.
Claire, I believe this IS the kind of doc you're talking about too...he just hasn't used the big ear thingie on me yet. Just the activator b/c I was in so much pain the last time I saw him. That was the day he did xrays, but didn't have time to study them, so he just used activator thing to relieve a bit of the pain. Oh, and that pressure technique on my shoulder, too.
I really like him. He is the type of person that you live in the midst of (get me?) which bothered me, but he is the most likable fella. Makes me sad. But he's very intrigued by me, or my plight. It's rare to find that. Most docs are too busy to care or they think I CAN'T have that many probs/pains or I scare them to death and they just give me some pill to try and keep me away from them.
SERIOUSLY.
*sigh*
Anyhow...I read lots of negative stuff online about these kinda chiros. And when you go looking, all their websites are extremely similar, all link back to that Dr. Sweat. (GROSS--what an icky name!) who apparently invented this method long ago. It's like he's their guru and reverence of him is taught first and foremost in chiro schools.
I dunno, but that's how it seems.
Just google what you've got up there and it comes up with lots of sites. I forget the other thing I googled to get the more negatives...maybe just low-force chir0practic or a+l@s (that O word I forget how to spell)....anyhow...there's tons of info. And this is a whole new thing for me b/c the chiro I saw b4 was NOTHING like this guy. He was a jerk! ;)
