hello? tech support?

Wait. No! I ain't callin' them suckers again! GAH!

I need help, ya'll! My Outlook Express has been acting goofy for months. About two months ago, I contacted tech support at my server and was told after numerous emails that I was "probably" gonna have to reinstall OE and he sent me a link so I could do that.

Well, obviously I didn't wanna hafta go through all that, so I didn't do it right then. But now? Now it's causing me all manner of grief, so I did it. I uninstalled OE and went to the link the tech guy provided. There I downloaded the OE installer and restarted my computer.

There, lo and behold, was OE still loaded on my computer! What da poo? So, I went and uninstalled it again, restarted and this time it was really gone.

*whew* says the naive woman with no clue as to what lay ahead...

I start the install program and up pops this box that says Installer has detected a newer version of Internet Explorer on your computer. Setup will cancel now and of course, when I clicked the stupid OK button, it all closed on me.

GAH! I went back to the download page and see that OE is bundled with IE and apparently YOU CAN'T GET OE ALONE ANYWHERE!!!!!!

GAAAAH!!!!! I am beyond frustrated here. I've tried using an old IE install disk I found and it just locks up whenever I try to start it. I've contemplated just removing IE too, but wasn't sure how that would work.

When I tried it, though, it only gives you three options: ReInstall IE, or Repair IE and something else I can't remember right now. [I just went to see what that third option was, and the computer freaked out on me. I don't even know if I'll be able to post this because half the stuff in my tray is now gone and the desktop has gone to safe mode. --HELP ME!!!!]

Gah. I'm SO MAD! Now I don't have ANY email...well, yeah, I CAN go to my accounts and check webmail, but how frustrating is THAT?!?! (very) ARGH!!!

If anyone out there can help me, PLEASE DO! Just let me know which email addy you send anything to, okay?

Oh, um....have a nice day.

*shrugs*

PS: I just realized, after trying to actually use IE, that my page looks RAUNCHY in IE!!! People, Firefox is THE ONLY way to go!

Oh dear. I wish I could help. Ummmm... you could always do what i did after my computer freaked out on me last week and reset itself to 2002 and I lost all my emails and addresses. I got a new computer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, as long as you've joined the Revolution and switched to Firefox, why not go all the way, and dump OE in favor of Mozilla's Thunderbird email application?

Whoops, I had never seen your page in IE. I think it's a problem with margins, like your left margin (blog entries) is too fat and is kicking your side stuff all to the bottom. I'm not sure how to fix it though.

And I can't help you with the OE thing either. I didn't even know you COULD reinstall OE or IE for that matter. I thought you had to reformat the whole blasted computer to fix those things. One thing I've found about OE though is that it stops working right after a while. I had a problem once where it'd take a very long pause when opening emails. What I mean is I'd double click on an email to open it and it'd take at least 30 seconds to open. I just reformatted. I do hope you find out what's wrong. I miss hearing from you!

Sheesh, Geanie, I came over to get caught up - glad I did before your computer completely implodes! Oh, just kidding, don't wanna scare ya.

I really have no advice to offer. I've done the uninstall thing with programs only to find them stil there. I'm with mrs. diamond!

And your back? And not breathing in your sleap (apnea?)? And numbness in the fingers? Well, I did just save a buncha money on car insurance... Oh never mind!

Hope you get the email problems straightened out.

I have geek grand kids that get me through all the tech stuff... Ended up getting a new computer at costco. Now troubles are over for a spell. Do You live near Liberty Ky? They used to have a Marathon gas station near the by-pass.. I painted the marathon man on the side of the station when it was new? And the minut burger signs on the freeway... thas me toooo. Loooonnng time ago kiddo.

My brand new laptop - only 1 week old - already has problems. My brilliant brother in-law came over to check it out. Turns out the DVD burner is screwed and I can't return the thing because my hubby bought it from Tiger Direct (online) and I didn't keep the styrofoam from the box. Being that the DVD burner is burnt out, I can't use the DVD rom either which means that I can't install a single program on the thing. I had to go out and buy a clunky external harddrive. ARGH!! I wish I could help you and me.

hello? hello? are you still here?

miss you

Missing you, G. Wish I could email ya! :) (Was that a bad thought?)

Count down to Christmas!

I've got sick kids, but the Holy Spirit is blubbling like a fountain in my heart and I'm excited! :) (Depression has been flying out the window!)

Thinking of you!

Hey ya'll...workin' on a post at this very minute. Hope to catch ya up a bit and MAAAYBE get to make some visits!! Ha!

~hugs~

I DID IT!! (thanks, Jeff!) I installed Thunderbird and it works great! Who knew?! (Jeff, apparently--but not me!)

*siiigh* Email at last!
